BPSF works to help enhance opportunities for the students of the Brainerd Public Schools through 4A grants (arts, academics, athletics, and activities) and scholarships. Four years ago we began a Dream Big initiative.
The first two years, we worked with the District Technology team to break down classroom walls to help provide opportunities to our students that they may not have otherwise. We are proud to have achieved our goals and bought a classroom set of Virtual Reality (VR) kits and an Augmented Reality kit for our district. Our district has about 40% of our student body categorized as “at risk.” (over 40% receive Free & Reduced Lunch) Many of these students rarely make it out of their neighborhoods, let alone an opportunity to travel and experience the outside world. These Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experiences are literally putting the world at their fingertips. Thank you to all who helped us reach our goal!
Then in year three, we set out to buy 2020 Books! Our goal was to raise the funds needed to buy a minimum of 2,020 high-interest books for K-8 classroom libraries across the district! Studies show when students have access to 600-1,000 high-interest titles in their classrooms – students have higher academic achievement and success rates. Thank you Jill Bjorge, former District Literacy Coordinator, for daring to Dream Big for our students and schools and for helping us BLOW OUR GOALS OUT OF THE WATER!
JOIN BPSF by making a donation to the 2021 Dream Big Project – for the Warrior Strength Center! Our goal is to raise $10k in new donations and then match those donations dollar for dollar. As of 10/15/21 – we have less than $1000 left to raise! Make a donation here to help us meet our goal!
